| Development Coordinator |

Junior level fund raising position with world-renowned contemporary dance company in Chicago. HSDC’s Development Coordinator works closely with the entire development staff in a team environment to implement fundraising goals and strategies, but also supports the entire organization from a data perspective. This individual manages the organization’s database with respects to donor and patron records and takes the lead on generating contribution and ticketing reports and data analysis. He/She is also responsible for list management with respects to marketing Chicago performances and community outreach initiatives. Primary responsibilities include gift processing, maintenance of donor/patron records, generation of gift acknowledgements, monthly finance reconciliation and creation of program donor list. He/She will assist with writing, prospect research, event planning, organizing meetings, support for senior staff and overall administrative coordination for the team.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Record all contributions in Tessitura and maintain database records
- Write and generate gift acknowledgements for all gifts using Tessitura and Microsoft Word
- Generate weekly gift reports and monthly budget analysis from Tessitura
- Assist Director of Finance and Administration by compiling gift documentation during annual audit
- Generate contributor lists for annual report and performance programs
- Generate and merge/purge mailing lists and theater seating lists for development and marketing
- Respond to organization-wide requests for data analysis and lists
- Oversee use of external databases and their coordination and ultimate integration with Tessitura
- Provide application support and training to all users of the Tessitura system and advocate for company-wide use of the system
- Maintain HSDC protocols for use of Tessitura
- Work with Tessitura managers at the Harris Theater and attend Tessitura user-group meetings
- Attend annual Tessitura conference and train staff on new functions of the software
- Maintain donor files
- Research prospective donors
- Provide department support to Directors and Managers as needed
- Assist with coordination of various donor activities and special events
- Support Manager of Special Events on all annual events (including silent auction, invitations, acknowledgements, etc.)
- Implement, manage and train staff on the use of third-party software for events management and on-line auction
- Proofread letters, proposals and reports as needed
Qualifications
Applicants should have at least two years of related work experience in data management, possess excellent organizational skills and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The applicant should demonstrate the ability to understand the work load of an organization dealing with earned and contributed revenue as well as how to exercise discretion and appropriate judgment with confidential materials. The successful candidate will be someone who thrives on using technology to improve processes and make things more efficient, an excellent communicator, extremely detail oriented, and someone with a team attitude who is willing to pitch in and get the job done. Knowledge of maintaining and analyzing donor data, creating event/donor meeting briefings, producing reports and fundraising materials and updating donor profiles is highly desirable. Applicant should be skilled with Microsoft Office applications and previous experience with Tessitura database is a plus.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s Production Manager coordinates all production related activity for Hubbard Street Dance Center, including planning, scheduling and execution of performances and events for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Hubbard Street 2. HSDC performs an annual 4-season subscription series in Chicago, collaborates locally with organizations including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Art Institute of Chicago and tours for 10-16 weeks each Season. The Production Manager is responsible for hiring and supervising production employees including the Production Coordinator and stage crew, as well as generating and maintaining the production budget. The position’s responsibilities also include coordination and maintenance of all production elements for HSDC repertoire. As a department head, the Production Manager participates in senior management discussions and decisions, and communicates with the staff and board regarding production related issues. S/he is also the in-house point of contact for HS2 production matters while the second company is on tour and/or off contract.
Duties/Responsibilities
Staff
-Hire and supervise all production employees, including HSDC crew and Production Coordinator

Act as chief liaison between the Employer, I.A.T.S.E. and U.S.A.

Supervise all personnel hired by venues where HSDC performs including carpenters, fly persons, weight loaders, and/or truck loaders at load-ins, rehearsals, performances and load-outs
Performances
-
Travel on tour with HSDC
-
Acquire information on touring venues; contact and maintain good relations with presenters
-
Create advance paperwork for all HSDC engagements, including line schedules and tech riders to send to venues

Communicate with venue TDs regarding all aspects of performance

Administer the Technical Requirements portion of the HSDC touring contract
-
Communicate potential problems on all theatres, tours, schedules and/or budgets to artistic staff
-
Schedule trucking and transportation, and insure that all proper documentation, insurance and permits have been acquired, including international freight and carnets
-
Assist in planning and implementing all truck packing and maintain manifests of loaded equipment as required by transport and commerce regulations

Maintain a general understanding of HS2 touring and production operations; communicate with HS2 presenters as necessary to advance tour performances
Repertoire

Work in conjunction with the Artistic Director, choreographers, and all designers on the successful creation of new works

Manage and have budgetary control over the construction of all new productions; maintain and supervise production elements at home and on tour

Coordinate all technical aspects of any sets, props, or soft goods for new productions

Order and purchase/supervise purchase of all equipment necessary for production

Ensure that all soft goods are flame proofed and certificates are kept current

Act as point of contact for rentals of scenery, props, and wardrobe

Create and monitor yearly production budget in coordination with Artistic Administrator

Meet with other department heads and staff as necessary to discuss matters pertinent to the production department and/or the company as a whole

Assure all warehouse and technical spaces are clean and organized in a safe and efficient manner

Supervise and manage all production facilities owned/operated by HSDC
Qualifications
Applicants must have 5 years related experience with a major arts organization. Applicants should possess strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate will be someone who generates ideas and seeks creative solutions to problems. Applicant should have a basic understanding of all elements of stagecraft including stage management, lighting, carpentry, properties, and audio. Applicant should have experience with national and international touring as well as supervisory experience in a union environment. Applicant should have literacy in a Microsoft Office environment and proficiency with specific production and lighting software including Lightwright and Vectorworks.
Requirements
Applicant must have a valid drivers license, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and ability to work at heights up to 25 feet.

| Education & Community Programs Department: Teaching Artist and Assistant |

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s Education & Community Programs is seeking contracted teaching artists and assistant teaching artists (part-time) for its in-school and after-school programs. HSDC offers unique and innovative residencies that allow schools to incorporate dance into their classrooms and curricula. HSDC teaching artists are responsible for leading residencies integrating dance with other subjects while introducing students to creative movement and choreography. Teaching artists are an integral part of all residencies’ curriculum planning and documentation and will meet with classroom teachers prior to and throughout the residency. HSDC teaching artists receive paid professional development and training. Classes are for grades K – 8 in Chicago and suburban schools. Significant teaching experience in a school setting. BA required, MA preferred for lead teaching artist. Salary commensurate with experience. Contracts begin September 2009. Position reports to Director of Education, Education Manager.
