Dance Chicago (HSDC),
under the artistic leadership of Jim Vincent,
is among the most original forces in contemporary dance.
Critically acclaimed for its exuberant, athletic and innovative
repertory, HSDC presents performances that inspire, challenge
and engage audiences worldwide. The company's dancers display
unparalleled versatility and virtuosity, allowing HSDC to
continually expand its eclectic repertory with works by master
American and international choreographers including Christopher
Bruce, Lucas Crandall, Marguerite Donlon, Nacho Duato, Jorma Elo, Daniel
Ezralow, William Forsythe, Jirí Kylián,
Lar Lubovitch, Susan Marshall, Ohad Naharin, Toru Shimazaki,
Twyla Tharp and Jim Vincent.
Since 2004, HSDC has embarked on a variety
of projects utilizing live music, including annual engagements
with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO), which has created
far-reaching artistic and institutional opportunities. In January
2007, HSDC and the CSO premiered From All Sides, a new work
by Jorma Elo set to an original score by Mark-Anthony Turnage,
conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen. Highlights of the upcoming 2009-10 Season:
